The Space

THE FLAT:

Our flat is a warm, friendly, and relaxed environment where everyone gets along well. It’s mostly quiet, our retreat from the world, where we enjoy reading, cooking, and watching movies. Please note, we have a gorgeous British Shorthair cat named Parrot. She loves spending time in this room but can be kept out if you prefer. However, she might try to sneak past you if you’re not paying attention, so our flat may not be suitable for those with cat allergies.

Our carefully modernized traditional Edinburgh tenement flat, built in the 19th century, combines classic architecture with modern comfort. It features original elements like large windows, high ceilings, cornicing, wood paneling, and solid wood floors, along with modern amenities such as temperature-controlled gas central heating, unlimited hot water, double glazing, a modern fitted kitchen, and high-quality furniture.

This flat is a real Edinburgh home that I’ve owned for 20 years. It has premium kitchen equipment (Miele, NEFF, Dualit, etc.) and a marble bathroom. It’s a lovely space to spend time in and the perfect base to explore the city from.

Located on Easter Road, our flat is within walking distance (about a mile) from Princes Street, Waverley Train Station, and the Royal Mile. It’s the closest point to town with free on-street parking, ideal if you’re traveling by car. If you prefer not to walk, the award-winning local bus service runs routes right past the flat, direct to both the new town and the old town.

WHAT YOU GET:

This listing is for the “green room” (though it isn’t very green since being redecorated). It has a pleasant atmosphere with a half wooden floor and half wool carpet around the bed—perfect on cold mornings. It also features a top-quality Millbrook pocket sprung double bed, which is very comfortable.

The price includes a basic breakfast of cereal, toast, and tea.

The room is automatically kept at a comfortable 19° (at ankle height, so really 20°) in the morning and evening, 18° (really 19°) during the day, and 17° (really 18°) overnight.

During Your Stay

ARRIVING:

The flat is about a mile from Waverley Train Station; you can walk, catch the no.1 bus, or jump in a taxi.

From the airport, you can catch the tram to York Place, which is the last stop. From there, it’s less than a mile to the flat. Alternatively, catch the 100 Airport Express bus to Princes Street and then change to the number 1 bus, which goes right past my flat.

SETTLING INTO THE FLAT:

I will meet you when you arrive to hand over a set of keys, show you around the flat, and answer any questions you may have about the accommodation, location, and Edinburgh in general. After that, I live here, so feel free to ask questions when you see me or call if I’m out. You will get my email address when your booking is confirmed, and my phone number is on all the key fobs.
